“Founded in 2007, our company operates an online store (www.myntra.com) for apparel and accessories in India. Currently, Indian consumers buy smart watches from overseas retailers. That’s why I have come to the Hong Kong fair for the first time to look for new brands especially for smart watches. It’s a nice fair for me to interact with industry players and know what’s happening in the timepiece industry. At the fair, I have already found eight new brands which are suitable for the Indian market, and I am waiting for these suppliers to provide quotations. It’s very likely that we’ll buy 1,000-2,000 pieces for each brand to test the market. If consumers like these brands, we’ll increase our order quantity to 100,000 pieces. I’ll visit the Wearable Tech zone at Salon de TE later to explore more business opportunities.”
Abhishek Sudhakar, Head – Accessories, Myntra Designs Pvt Ltd, India

“Optim is one of the biggest Russian retailers which operates watch shops in Russia and other Eastern European countries such as the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and others. Apart from selling leading international brands, we also have our own brands that are growing rapidly due to our outstanding quality and superb design. We are constantly developing our collections so the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair provides us with a great opportunity to find reliable partners meeting our strict requirements. This is my first visit to this world's biggest timepiece event as a new brand manager but it was extremely useful - I found several potential partners due to perfect organisation of the exhibition and great support from the highly professional staff.”
Fariza Khachirova, Brand Manager, Optim, Russia

“Established in 1998, our company sells watches under our Jorg Gray brand to every corner of the world. Our main markets include Canada, the Chinese mainland, Europe, Japan and the US. In the past, I sent my colleagues to visit the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair every year. This is my first time attending the fair. As we are now developing new collections for 2016, we are looking for mechanical watches, packaging materials, displays and new design ideas at this fair. We are going to buy US$100,000 worth of mechanical watches, quartz watches and automatic watches from three suppliers. The Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair is the best fair of its kind in the world that I must attend every year. It is the right place where I can meet a lot of new suppliers.”
James Schaefer, Global Sales Manager, Jorg Gray Timepieces, the US

“ABISTE is a retailer and wholesaler of costume jewellery, fashion watches, handbags and eyewear in Japan. Currently, we have 170 outlets in hotels throughout our country. Our company sends purchasing representatives to visit the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair regularly to source ladies’ fashion watches. We like this fair because it is the best place to see a wide variety of ladies’ watches and new designs. At this year’s fair, we have met with 10 new suppliers from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. So far, we have placed orders with an existing supplier from Korea and a new supplier from Hong Kong for brass and alloy ladies’ watches worth US$50,000. As we plan to buy US$200,000 worth of ladies’ watches at the fair, we’ll place orders if we find nice products here.”
Naoko Gakuhari, General Manager, Product Planning & Purchasing Division, ABISTE Corporation, Japan

“Founded by myself in 2010, Memorigin is a Hong Kong brand that specialises in tourbillon watches. This is our third year exhibiting at Salon de TE. Through the event, we have secured distributors covering 15 countries and regions. At this year’s event, we are highlighting the perfect blend of oriental sculpture and western watchmaking craftsmanship as well as Hong Kong’s spirit in our tourbillon watches. We are promoting our new collections such as the Bourbon collection designed by Mark Lui, a famous composer, producer and designer in Hong Kong, and the Stellar collection created by our in-house designers. Salon de TE provides a perfect venue for us to meet with our existing distributors so that they understand our corporate developments and view our latest collections. Our booth has attracted many buyers. We have found potential business partners from the Chinese mainland and Southeast Asia who offer new ideas for our market development.”
William Shum, Founder and CEO, Memorigin Watch Company Limited, Hong Kong

“Established in 1977, Solar Time is an ODM/OEM watchmaker and also owns 7 to 8 in-house brands. With head office in Hong Kong, we have our own factory on the Chinese mainland and affiliates in the UK and the US. Our branded products are now sold in 20 countries and regions across Asia, Europe and North America. We have been exhibiting at the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair for more than 15 years. The fair not only provides a meeting place for us to talk to our existing distributors and to connect with new buyers but also a great platform for us to promote our brand positioning. We believe that demand for our medium-priced watches remains strong. At this year’s fair, we have found several potential distributors from Europe, the Chinese mainland, Southeast Asia and the US.”
